Surgical Oncology Follow Up

Today’s visit to the Cancer Center for an ultrasound and a visit with my breast surgeon. So relieved to report everything looks normal and I’m cancer free.

Today’s visit was also the first time a provider asked me how I was handling my cancer experience mentally/emotionally. It was really nice to hear that my complete and utter terror of cancer recurrence is pretty normal. Many thanks to my surgeon who took some extra time and care for me.

She was also honest that cancer recurrence isn’t completely preventable, even with medication compliance, lifestyle changes, and following every guideline. You control what variables you can, and the rest is up to the universe.

For now, I can breathe a little easier and plan a little farther into the future.

It’s the first of the month - time to #feelitonthefirst and do your breast self exam!
